Materials Needed:

Size 7 steel crochet hook

Size 10 blue crochet thread

Black embroidery thread

Yarn needle

Fiberfill

Special stitch:

Loop (Fur) stitch:Beginning Loop (Fur) stitch:make a slip knot in yarn.Place slip knot on the end of your hook.Place hook between 2 stitches in body and bring it out through the next 2 stitches.Drape yarn over left index finger, yo and pull through the holes of the body.YO and pull through both loops on hook.

Loop (Fur) stitch:Place hook through the second hole of the previous stitch worked and bring it out through the next stitch.Drape yarn over left index finger, yo and pull through the holes of the body.YO and pull through both loops on hook.

*Ch 1 at the start of a round does not count as a stitch.

Finger puppet:

 

Round 1:make an adjustable ring, ch1, 6 sc in ring, join.(6 sc)

 

Round 2:ch 1, 2 sc in the same st as join and in each st around, join.(12 sc)

 

Round 3:ch 1, 2 sc in the same st as join, 1 sc in the next st, *2 sc in the next st, 1 sc in the next st, repeat from * around, join.(18 sc)

 

Round 4:ch 1, 2 sc in the same st as join, 1 sc in each of the next 2 sts, *2 sc in the next st, 1 sc in each of the next 2 sts, repeat from * around, join.(24 sc)

 

Round 5:ch 1, 2 sc in the same st as join, 1 sc in each of the next 3 sts, *2 sc in the next st, 1 sc in each of the next 3 sts, repeat from * around, join.(30 sc)

 

Rounds 6 -21:ch 1, 1 sc in the same st as join and in each st around, join. At the end of round 21, finish off and weave in ends. (30 sc)

 

 

Nose:

 

Round 1:make an adjustable ring, ch1, 6 sc in ring, join.(6 sc)

 

Round 2:ch 1, 2 sc in the same st as join and in each st around, join.(12 sc)

 

Round 3:ch 1, 2 sc in the same st as join, 1 sc in the next st, *2 sc in the next st, 1 sc in the next st, repeat from * around, join.(18 sc)

 

Rounds 4 – 6:ch 1, sc in the same st as join and in each st around, join.(18 sc)

 

Round 7:ch 1, 2 sc in the same st as join, 1 sc in each of the next 2 sts, *2 sc in the next st, 1 sc in each of the next 2 sts, repeat from * around, join.(24 sc)

 

Rounds 8 – 11:ch 1, sc in the same st as join and in each st around, join.(24 sc)

 

Round 12:ch 1, skip first st, sl st in next st, sc in each of the next 20 sts, leave the last 2 scs unworked, ch 1, turn. (20 sc)

 

Round 13:skip first st, sl st in next st, sc in each of the next 16 sts, leave the last 2 scs unworked, ch 1, turn.(16 sc)

Round 15:skip first st, sl st in next st, sc in each of the next 8 sts, leave the last 2 scs unworked, leaving an 8 inch tail for sewing, finish off. (8 sc) Stuff and sew nose to horse’s body.Embroider eyes on either side of horse’s nose.

 

Ears (make 2):

 

Round 1:ch 4, sc in second ch from hook and in each of the next 2 chs, rotate but don’t turn, working in the bottom of the foundation chain, sc in each of the next 3 chains, ch 1, turn.(6 sc)

 

Round 2:sc in first st and in each of the next 2 sts, picot, sc in each of the next 3 sts, finish off, weave in ends.

 

Sew ears to top of the horse’s head.

 

Mane:

 

Insert hook between 2 stitches at the top of the horse’s head. Make a line of 14 loop stitches down the horse’s head. The loop stitches should be about 1 inch long. Finish off and trim the tops of the loops so that the mane looks more like hair.

  1. This is so cute! And I bet if you adjusted the pattern a little bit, and used a worsted weight yarn and a larger hook, you could have a horse hat!
