Finger Puppet Menagerie

I love making finger puppets and I tend to obsess over them (as you can see here). So when I was asked to come up with a pattern to give out at a church function, of course, I thought finger puppets. Since not everyone likes to spend endless hours on something so tiny, I figured I would come up with a pattern that doesn’t take too long and uses minuscule amounts of yarn.

Supplies:

G hook

Small amounts of worsted weight yarn in assorted colors

Black and green embroidery thread

Yarn needle

Gauge: not important

abbreviations used:

ch chain

sc single crochet

yo yarn over

Special stitch:

Loop (Fur) stitch: (you will need a pencil, pen, or knitting needle to help keep the size of this stitch consistent)

Beginning Loop (Fur) stitch:make a slip knot in yarn.Place slip knot on the end of your hook.Place hook between 2 stitches in body and bring it out through the next 2 stitches.Drape yarn over pencil, yo and pull through the holes of the body.YO and pull through both loops on hook.

Loop (Fur) stitch:Place hook through the second hole of the previous stitch worked and bring it out through the next stitch.Drape yarn over pencil, yo and pull through the holes of the body.YO and pull through both loops on hook.
